The Universe



Our universe takes Marvel to its roots. We've rebooted much of what Marvel has come to envision and given it to our players to decide, key characters in key story lines are now yours to shape the course of! For now, we're sticking with the x-men almost exclusively, but we have a young Tony Stark flying around, and cap hasn't even thawed yet! SHIELD is an unknown and barely any one has even heard of Spider-man. Incidentally, want spider-man to be an x-man instead? BRING IT! (Offer void where prohibited, while supplies last, first come first serve, only one spider-man per game allowed <3)



The players



We do everything in our power to put creativity in your hands. Character creation is organic, we work with you to help you create a character that you'll love to play that will also fit our game. Tons of canons are still available for play and their stories haven't even begun yet! Reshape them, mold them, make them your own! Change their age, their allegiances, and even their gender if you like! Original characters are of course also welcome!



The Setting



Life for mutants and other metahumans within futuregen is a struggle. This world doesn't understand them and doesn't want them. Our story will focus primarily on allowing your character to grow through customized character driven story arcs created for players by players, so that they can learn who they are, and find their place in a world that they otherwise don't seem to fit into.



The game takes place Primarily in the small vacation spot of Bayville New York, just north of New York City (New Rochelle, thereabouts). Unlike other games, there are two schools and they're in city limits. The Frost Academy, which is a prep school owned and operated by the prestigious Emma Frost and the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. Both schools have fairly public faces in the scholastic and academic world, they have booths at education related conventions, they have pamphlets, and nicely designed websites, they're normal, right? Nope, what the rest of the world doesn't know about these schools, is that they are safe havens for mutants and all sorts of other meta-humans.



The world we'll be playing in looks a lot like our own in terms of commonly accepted technology. Aliens are propaganda, magic is only in movies and most of the world's very real problems, still exist here. The difference is, they also have mutants to deal with. Mutants are a relatively new phenomenon to the world. Much like gay and lesbian human rights topics, prior to about the 1990s, it was a tremendously taboo to even be a mutant, before that, it's unheard of. Recently, some progress has been made, but not much. Laws for mutant registration have been attempted, and failed for a variety of reasons, but it's only a matter of time before they try again!







The Style



This is a Character driven RPG! Our creative writing forum welcomes all kinds of creative writing. From those who enjoy writing a grand epic in every post, to those who think only a few paragraphs is just right. As mentioned before, the creative process at futuregen is extremely organic. We work with you to help you tell the story you want to tell. The site is primarily rated PG-13, but there is also a password protected adult section for those of us who enjoy more graphic writing!



Additionally, we're ACTIVE, we have ongoing story arcs, weekly and monthly events. Chronology is tracked to help you pace the rate at which your character develops! Our game is balanced, power is constantly checked, and earned through game play, though is still primarily free form.
