the moonlight shows us for what we really are

Theo noticed the softening of her tone as she tried to clarify about his status. “That's about the way of it, yeah.” He was a lycan, there could be very little to doubt or deny about that. Theo had only ever felt any form of attraction towards other men, but... did it still count as being gay if he'd never actually acted on it and had no intentions of acting on it? It wasn't safe to get close to anyone, he knew that, and so he'd always kept a tight lid on any urges of that nature he might have had. Still, 'gay' was the closest he had ever been able to come to giving himself some form of descriptor in that sense, and the admission of it did seem to placate the woman a bit.
As the woman said that she was a lesbian Theo turned his head in surprise, his cheek brushing against the rough bark of the tree. He was not attempting to look at her, and as soon as he realised that he had turned his head in the direction of her voice he quickly snapped it back to front again, hazel eyes looking off into the forest in completely the opposite direction. He was about to say something when she spoke again, sounding suddenly much less antagonistic and telling him to hold up while she got his bag out of the tree. “Hey, I ain't going anywhere.” A soft chuckle left his lips as she told him again not to look. “Not looking! I'll even close my eyes.”
Theo did close his eyes but he focussed on what he could hear instead. If it sounded like she was bolting after getting the bag down he would be after her; much as he didn't want to spook her or risk loosing this chance to talk to someone with the same condition, he was not going to let her make off with the bag. He needed what was inside it far too much, and there was no way he could make it into town without people noticing if he didn't at least have some clothes on.
The thud on the ground let him knew that the bag had hit planet earth, and he listened out for the sound of the zipper and buckles that were holding it closed. The air was cold and Theo held the pelt close to his chest as he waited, trying to both keep warm and resist the urge to just run out and grab his bag away from her, but eventually it was tossed over towards him. “Now it's your turn to not look” he said, only half-joking.
Peering around from behind the tree, Theo made sure she was at least looking the other way before stepping out fully and shuffling over to his bag, rummaging around in it and pulling out his clothes. She had quite rightly taken the clean set, meaning he would have to put the ones from last night back on, but they would do until he could get back home. As she thanked him the first proper smile of the day softly crossed his lips. “Don't worry about it... If we don't look out for each other, who will?”
After pulling on the clothes Theo sat on the ground, pulling the two small heavy-duty plastic bottles of water out of his bag. “All set.” Uncapping one of the bottles, he took a long drink before splashing some on his hands, clearing off the heavy of the woodland muck. The other bottle got offered out to the woman as she turned around. “You're probably thirsty. I've got some granola bars too, if you didn't... y'know... eat during the night.”
