Occupation: Knight, back in his own realm. Moocher in this one.
Physical description: Kailen is, well, tall? Or at least for his kind – the Oriens Court of Morning is known for producing some tall fairy – at about 5’6” and he has a rather muscular frame. Or, whatever musculature nearly two and a half centuries of training and knighthood could give someone. His hair’s a kind of dusty-blonde color (or it might be actual dust, who knows) and has extremely green eyes which he either can’t, or won’t, hide with a glamour. His skin isn’t quite that shade; it’s darker, something closer to the color of grass, and usually isn’t seen by most people as he hides it with a glamour. He usually hides an assortment of earrings, all the jewelry made of the bones of things he's killed, just because they're strange colors for bones and, well, would probably look strange to humans. He usually glamours himself as Caucasian with fairly fair skin and a bit of stubble to try to mask his more exotic bone structure, as glamours aren’t exactly his strong point.
Kailen also, as a rule, covers as much of his body as he can. He has a severe metal allergy, worse than most fey have, and anything but pure gold and silver will cause serious damage. His right hand has scarring from an incident with a doorknob. He has an assortment of other scars from his time as a knight and if he feels like scaring someone off, he’ll tell the stories behind them.
History: Kailen was born and raised in the Oriens Court of Morning, far to the north of the fairy realm. It was a small court, one that was perfectly content to stay far in the north and one no one paid much attention to. During Kailen’s entire lifetime it was ruled by the same monarch, a fairy who all called the Morning King, and who was rumored to see things yet to happen in his dreams, though no one could confirm or deny these claims. Either way, he grew up and played in the snow while he was a child, and as soon as he could realistically pick up a sword he began his pagehood.
He was a page for about fifty years, training under the few Knights the Court still had, and was knighted himself at just over seventy. It was a rather boring ceremony and shortly after that the older knights began giving him most of the work they didn’t want to so themselves. It didn’t bother him nearly as much as it should have, especially at the time. There were relatively few times he left the Court itself; he was brought on a few small campaigns into the southern part of the fairy realm, was part of a few border skirmishes, and once he caught an assassin, but those were far less exciting than it actually sounds. He left the realm even fewer times; he remembers only three previous journeys into the human realm, all of them short and all of them without anything memorable happening.
He was – and still would be – content in his home of snow and ice, but the Morning King asked him to spend some time in the human realm and simply observe; for what, the king wouldn’t tell him, but assured Kailen that he’d know it when he saw it. So he began his fourth venture into the human realm, stumbling first into a strange little town and meeting a vampire named Friday Jones, who took him under their wing and he… well, he didn’t emerge from under it. They left that little town and settled into Mossy Hollow not long ago, with Friday doing most of the work and Kailen standing around pretending he understands what’s going on.
