Name: Darrion Gatwood
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual
Species/Type: Drake
Conditions: none
Modifications:
Occupation: pizza deliverer, baker, cashier
Physical description: Darrion is short for a young man, but he's broad-shouldered and thickset enough to seem like a big guy in spite of it. His long face is characterized by a big mouth, little ears, and smooth, flat nose, spotted by acne now and then; his thin black eyebrows are highly expressive, far more so than his cold green eyes, and his brown skin is accented with iridescent green scales on his shoulders, his spine, and the backs of his hands. Normally, though, he likes to keep his scales hidden when he can, and always wears a hat to cover the mohawk-like crest of red feathers that grow from his head.
History: Darrion learned early on to be careful about letting on that he wasn't human. Discrimination isn't a huge problem, at least not in Mossy Hollow, but drakes run certain risks by making themselves known. When his grade-school classmates learned that he was a drake, some of them cornered him on the playground and ganged up on him, throwing rocks and kicking him until they pushed him to tears. They'd heard that drake tears were magic, and they were determined to wring some out of him. A teacher eventually intervened, but they ended up doing it again, behind the gym where the adults couldn't see this time, vicious enough to overcome his high pain threshhold and overwhelm him. It only happened a few times -- but that's more than enough to leave an impression. He's been wary of humans ever since.
Since moving out of his parents' house, he's been living in a trailer home and working several jobs just to keep himself afloat. By the end of the day, he's always dead tired, and he doesn't get a lot of sleep. The good thing about having jobs, though, is that two of them allow him an excuse to hover around heat sources like ovens and fresh pizzas, something he appreciates especially in the winter months.
Distant and people-challenged, Darrion has been pretty socially-isolated, what with his distrust for most of the population and his lack of leisure time for maintaining relationships, and that's weighed heavy on his mind ever since he started noticing strange shadows at night. He might not like humans as a whole, but knowing one or two nice ones would certainly come in handy in some situations -- his home doesn't have the automatic protection that those of humans have, and more and more these days, he's been highly anxious about being bitten by vampire, for no amount of tears could save him then.
